Mrs. Shelley Linnean Spake of Chattanooga, TN formerly of Varnville, SC died Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Spake was born in Charleston, SC, February 5, 1971, a daughter of the late Harold Walter and Mary Olga Tuten Linnean II. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 1993 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. She had taught school for 21 years, primarily at the Cherokee Ridge Elementary School located in Chickamauga, GA as a Kindergarten Teacher. She was honored as the Teacher of the Year in 2006, and was a member of the Concord Baptist Church.
Surviving are: Her husband, William “Bill” Henry Spake of Chattanooga; Daughters: Whitney Ashton Spake, Courtney Alyssa Spake, and Ashlyn Noelle Spake, all of the home; Brother: Col. Harold W. Linnean III and wife Joy of Bonaire, Georgia; Sisters: Rhonda L. Cook and husband David of Chapin, Christine Linnean of Varnville, and Half Sister: Denise Linnean of Florida.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, in the Varnville First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly, with burial following in the Sandy Run Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
A memorial service will take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at the Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN at 2:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to services.

Mr. Wilbert Randolph “Doc” Gooding, of Varnville, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 20107, morning in the Medical University hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Gooding was born in Hampton County, March 26, 1932, a son of the late Horace and Caroline Terry Gooding. He had retired from Westinghouse Corp in Hampton, and was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist church. He had served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge in Hampton, and the Jahab Shrine Club. He also was active with the American Legion Post #108 in Hampton.
Surviving are: His wife: Mrs. Peggy Marie Cooke Gooding of Varnville; Daughter: Cheryl G. Long and husband Tommy of Ruffin; Sister, Terry G. Thomas and husband Gary of Highwood, Illinois; Grandchildren: Brad Long and wife Krystal, Randall Long and Taylor Long; and Great Grandchildren: Braylyn and Brynlee Long. Mr. Gooding was predeceased by a sister: Reba Mae Zahler.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 in the Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Rhyan Ashcraft and Elder Robert Dobson, with burial in the Rivers Cemetery near Brunson with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Mrs. Annie Mae Crapse Zorn of Estill, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in the Pruitt Health Care Facility in Estill.
Mrs. Zorn was born in Hampton County, July 15, 1918, a daughter of the late Paul Jefferson Crapse and Mae Bassett Crapse. She had retired from Platts Fads and Fashions clothing store in Estill, and was a lifelong member of the Furman Baptist Church. She was the widow of Richard M. Zorn.
Surviving are: Sister in Laws: Dot Jackson Crapse of Sumter, and Pat Crapse of Charlotte; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 02, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 03, 2017, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial in the Stafford Baptist Church Cemetery near Furman.
