GRAYS, S.C. - Mr. Jeremy Michael Harris, Sr. left this earthly shore on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at his residence in Grays, South Carolina. Jeremy was born on Aug. 25, 1979, in Montrose, P.A. to Jean Stone and Ralph Harris.
His favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with his family.
Jeremy was a loving husband and father, a big teddy bear! He was a true friend and a protector of his family and friends.
Jeremy met and married his wife, Sandra Steen Harris, in 1997. He was the father of six children. There are four daughters: Chasity Jones (Steven), Dawn Harris, and Ariel Harris, all of Grays, S.C. and Ashley Harris of Summerville, S.C.; one son, Brandon Harris of Grays, S.C. One son preceded him in death, Angel Jeremy Michael Harris, Jr.
Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law, James Steen; one sister, Michelle Mattison; and one niece, Jordyan Rogers.
To cherish his memories are his wife of the home, Sandra S. Harris; his children: Chasity Jones (Steven), Dawn Harris, and Ariel Harris, all of Grays, S.C. and Ashley Harris of Summerville, S.C.; One son, Brandon Harris, of Grays, S.C.; Two grandchildren: Kimber Jones of Cope, S.C. and Christopher Jones of Greenville, S.C.; Three sisters: Kristie Moreau of P.A., Michelle Carroll (Michael) of Barnwell, S.C., and Sharon Davis (Lonnie) of Fairfax, S.C.; one brother, Michael Moreau of P.A.; His mother-in-law, Willa Mae Steen of Grays, S.C.; Special nieces: Lisa Lee and Sabrina Carroll, both of Barnwell, S.C.; Tiffany Mosely and Becky Mixon, both of Hampton, S.C.; Passion Mixon of Fairfax, S.C.; One great niece, Arianna Freeman; One great nephew, Kayden Hadwin of Hampton, S.C.; One god-son, Alan Watson of Gray, S.C.; and a very special cousin, John Smith; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

BRUNSON, S.C. - Mr. Clarence McDuffy McMillan, Sr. of Corbin Lane near Brunson, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 6, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. McMillan was born Nov. 24, 1934, in Hampton County, a son of the late Joe Frank McMillan and Lucy Mole McMillan. He had been a farmer for 61 years and loved the outdoors, especially turkey hunting and fishing. He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are: son, Newton McMillan and wife Robin of Brunson; brother, Jimmy McMillan and wife Maude of Brunson; daughter-in-law, Martha Cannington McMillan of Okatie; and grandchildren: Kattie and Jonathan McMillan, and Morgan McMillan McGraw. There are a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. McMillan was predeceased by his wife, Laura Hughey McMillan; son, Clarence McMillan, Jr.; and a brother: Joe Frank McMillan.
Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located in Hampton.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2018, in the Sandy Run Cemetery conducted by Rev. Paul Reid.

VARNVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Frank Arnold McClure, Jr., 88, of Varnville, passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at MUSC in Charleston.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 165 Palmetto Avenue West, Varnville, S.C. Interment followed in the Varnville Cemetery on Pine Street.
Born Sept. 22, 1929, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the late Frank Arnold McClure, Sr. and Emily Griffin McClure. Frank graduated from Varnville High School, Class of 1946, where he was a member of the high school band and played on the basketball team. He worked at the old Varnville Theater and Fairfax Theater, running the projectors. After high school, Frank attended Clemson, where he graduated with the class of 1950. He served his country in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He was recently selected to travel on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC.
Frank's life was centered around God, Family, Church, and his hometown. As a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Varnville, he was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He was the first lay moderator of the Allendale-Hampton Baptist Association, and served on the board of the South Carolina Baptist Foundation. His love of the Lord led him to serve on several mission trips. Additionally, he helped to start and support Harmony Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church. He often served as the hands and feet of Christ, as he sought to meet the needs of many individuals in his community. Most recently he was able to see one of his life-long dreams come to fruition with the opening of the First Baptist Church Life Center.
He was a devoted husband and loving father, step father, grandfather and uncle. He treasured spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. One of his passions was researching his family genealogy, and reconnecting with family members across the country. He loved people and in the words of his children, he never met a stranger.
Frank dearly loved the town of Varnville and devoted many hours to ensure his community would grow and prosper. He served as Mayor of Varnville for two terms; served as a Town Councilman; and was a volunteer fireman. He was instrumental in developing the Varnville Town Park, including the construction of the gazebo and the relocation and preservation of the old depot. His lifelong love of trains also led him to seek out an authentic caboose to add to the park. He was president of the Varnville Cemetery Association. He assisted in writing the book, “Railroads and Sawmills,” a history of Varnville. He served on the Hampton Regional Medical Center Board. Frank had many interests, to include teaching his children to fish, piloting his Cessna airplane, and communicating with people around the world on his Ham Radio. He refereed high school basketball and football, and later in life was a proud member of the Hardee’s Coffee Club.
Frank also believed in a strong work ethic. During his professional career, he owned and operated the Varnville Hardware and McClure Insurance Agency. He was the President of the Hampton County Bank, where he worked for more than 40 years. He was a former President of the South Carolina Independent Bankers Association.
Surviving are: his wife, Dickie Polk McClure; children: Vicki McClure McCormick of Orangeburg, Terri McClure Downer and her husband Dave of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania; Arnie McClure and his wife Mitzi of Charleston; Joey Harter, Jr. and his wife Frankie of Brunson; Cindy H. Johnson and her husband Keith of Fripp Island; and Debbie H. Bullard and her husband Perry of Brunson; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Wilson McClure; daughter, Merri McClure; and a sister, Emily McClure Doar.

HAMPTON, S.C. - Frank Breland Miley, Jr., 79, of Hampton, S.C. died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in Agape Hospice House in Lexington, S.C. He was born Feb. 28, 1938, in Walterboro and was the only child of Frank Breland Miley and Gertrude Cone Miley.
The small town of Early Branch was a perfect place for a boy that loved nature, fishing and hunting to grow up. After attending Wade Hampton High School, Frank graduated from Newberry College and began his career at Reichhold Chemicals in Hampton. He retired as Plant Manager of BTL Chemicals in 1988 after having a stroke.
Frank was a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Hampton County Watermelon Festival Committee and was in charge of the fishing contest for many years. One of his favorite hobbies was raising Labrador Retrievers and training his dogs for field trials and was also known to make good use of them with his skills in a dove field. He had been a member of the Palmetto Retriever Club and was also a Rotarian. Even though his activities were limited after his stroke, he retained his enjoyment of life and loved his family and pets. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a Gamecock fan and loved TV and beach music. Music reminded him of shagging and playing his trumpet.
Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Golden Miley; a son, Frank Breland “Trey” Miley, III and daughter-in-law, Theresa Burbage Miley, of Lexington, S.C.; and a daughter, Mindy Miley of Charleston, S.C. He is also survived by grandsons: Frank Breland Miley, IV of Seattle, W.A.; and Brooks Miley and Bryce Miley, both of Lexington, S.C. He was predeceased by an infant granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Hampton First Baptist Church with Rev. Emerson Wiles officiating with burial following in the Hampton Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton. Visitation was in the church sanctuary from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. before the service.

SAVANNAH, G.A. - Harvey Alvin Dobson, Jr., 64, of Savannah, G.A. passed away Feb. 8, 2018, at Savannah Hospice. Mr. Dobson was born Jul. 21, 1953, in Varnville, S.C. to the late Harvey A. and Mary Tuten Dobson.
Alvin was the owner of Sand Hill Logging and Timber and was a self- employed timber harvester for 40 years. He loved working in the woods and spending time outdoors, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed any activity that included automobiles, boating or the river. Beach music and shagging were favorite past times and Alvin was always the “Life of the Party”; he was known and loved by all. Even after leaving Luray to pursue his career, he never lost touch with his home town that was so dear to his heart.
Surviving Mr. Dobson are his wife, Kim Dobson, and one sister, Rose D. Elliott.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Luray Christian Church, 90 Fitts Street, Luray, S.C.

ALLENDALE, S.C. - John Stoney Sanders, Jr., age 90, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.
Mr. Sanders was a lifelong native of Allendale and the son of the late John Stoney, and Nina Flowers Sanders, Sr. He was a graduate of the Citadel, U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Swallow Savannah United Methodist Church. Stoney lived life to its fullest, enjoyed people and will be missed by his family and many friends. Allendale has lost a true icon.
Graveside Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Swallow Savannah Cemetery with Reverend George Hudson officiating. The family received friends following the service at the graveside.
Family members include nieces and nephews, special great nieces and nephews: Shannon Ferril (Norman), Leigh Ann Ferrill Garlington (Gene), Andy Wright (Courtney) and Brad Wright (Alicia).
